Call for Demos

We invite you to submit your papers to the demo track of the Affective Computing and Intelligent Interaction Conference (ACII 2026). It is the perfect opportunity to showcase demonstrations of recent advancements in this space. Technologies, multimodal products, and prototypes are all welcome for presentation, to engage with an international community of experts from various corners of social science, computer science, and data science.

Demo presenters will benefit from heightened exposure for their work and feedback from scientists and experts in the field. We encourage creative, artistic, and thought-provoking experiences, research prototypes, and commercial products. Demos are also an excellent opportunity to find beta testers and other collaborators.

All accepted demos are eligible for the ACII 2026 Best Demo Award, selected by participant voting during the conference.

Submission Categories

To accommodate different types of contributions, ACII 2026 offers three distinct tracks for demo submissions:

  1. Standard Demo Track (Archival)
    • Target: Researchers with standalone prototypes or advancements not covered by a main-conference paper.
    • Requirement: A two-page extended abstract.
    • Publication: Accepted abstracts will be published in the ACIIW 2026 companion conference proceedings.
  2. “Paper-to-Demo” Fast Track
    • Target: Authors of accepted main conference papers who wish to demonstrate their system live.
    • Benefit: Showcase your high-quality prototype and double your visibility without doubling the work.
    • Requirement: No separate extended abstract is required. No second scientific review is conducted. Fast track demos are checked for suitability and logistical feasibility.
    • Process:
      • During main paper submission, authors indicate interest by ticking the “If accepted, I would also like to demonstrate this system” checkbox in the main track submission form.
      • After paper acceptance, authors will be asked to provide a short demo description and a technical requirements document via the demo submission system (for planning purposes only).
    • Publication: Fast track demos are not published separately in the ACIIW proceedings, as the corresponding papers are already published in the main ACII proceedings.
    • Capacity: Exhibition space is limited. Indicating interest does not guarantee a demo slot; allocation will depend on space, safety, and technical constraints.
  3. Industry & Commercial Track (Non-Archival)
    • Target: Companies, startups, and commercial entities.
    • Benefit: An opportunity to showcase “real world” products to attendees without IP restrictions or the time burden of academic writing.
    • Requirement: A demo description for review and planning purposes only.
    • Publication: These descriptions are not published in the proceedings. However, the title and company name will be included in the conference program.

Important Dates

All deadlines are in the Anywhere on Earth timezone.

  • Submission Deadline (Standard Demo Track and Industry & Commercial Track): 30 April 2026
  • Demo Information Deadline (Paper-to-Demo Fast Track): 20 June 2026
  • Notification of Acceptance (All Tracks): 30 June 2026
  • Camera Ready Submissions (Standard Demo Track): 17 July 2026
  • Conference Dates (All Tracks): 7-10 September 2026

Requirements

Submissions of demonstrations of research prototypes and innovative commercial products related to applications of affective computing and intelligent interaction are welcome.

Submission Guidelines

Standard Demo Track (Track 1) and Industry & Commercial Track (Track 3)

For these tracks, the submission materials should be combined into a single PDF document and must include:

  1. A two-page (+ one additional page for references) extended abstract to be published in the ACIIW 2026 companion conference proceedings in the conference paper format (please find LaTeX/Word templates here). The abstract should include (1) a brief background introduction and description of the system, (2) a summary of the technical contributions of the system, and (3) results of a formal evaluation or an experiment to be conducted during the demo (if applicable).
  2. A URL link to a video recording demonstrating how the system works.

The demo papers submission process will be handled through the Easy Chair system. Please note that the demo presenters must register for the conference.

Paper-to-Demo Fast Track (Track 2)

For authors of accepted ACII 2026 main conference papers:

  • During main paper submission, indicate that you would like to present a corresponding demo by ticking the dedicated checkbox in the main track form.
  •  After paper acceptance, you will be contacted by the Demo Chairs with instructions for submitting:
    • the demo title and a short description (for the program and website)
  • a technical requirements document (e.g., hardware, space, power, network needs, and setup sketch)

No extended abstract is required for this track, and no separate entry appears in the proceedings. Fast track demos are allocated based on suitability and available space.

Evaluation Criteria

Standard Demo submissions and Industry & Commercial demo descriptions will be juried by the Demo Chairs, with input from additional reviewers or domain experts as needed. Submissions will be selected based on:

  • scientific and/or practical contribution
  • originality and innovation
  • potential social or practical impact
  • potential for wider use and relevance to ACII topics
  • clarity of the technical description and demo concept

Similar demos may be grouped together to increase visibility and foster discussion.

Fast track demos will be checked for fit to ACII, feasibility, and space constraints rather than re-reviewed for scientific content.
